Just a collector my friend, of both the weapons and the art. These Swords are NOT ideal for use in Iaido (the Art of drawing the Sword from it's scabbard, presenting a strike then returning it back to its sheath) anyway as they all have sharpened edges and are too heavy due to the steel used in them and the forging process used to make them. Iaido swords are for presentation only and are not sharpened. "Kendo" is another Bushido based sport that is full contact, but they use Swords made out of Bamboo.
Like the Karate I studied as a youth, Iaido students memorize "Kata's" or pre choreographed routines of drawing-cutting-and returning the blade back into it's sheath in one fluid motion. I've memorized a couple of Kata's for fun, but never studied Iaido in earnest.
I would like to try and forge a sword of my own one day, perhaps not even a sword. Even a knife would be more than enough for me.
